The other neighborhoods near downtown like Kenwood are considered up-and-coming and are near some sketchy areas and have more crime. Second to that would be Old Ne or Snell, if you can afford it. If I were in your shoes I would get a great condo or townhouse right smack downtown. Definitely has a great bohemian, gay-friendly vibe downtown. Here is just one:ġ75 1st St S Apt 1004 St Petersburg FL - Home for Rent - MLS #U7519536 - ® While Grand Central is not within walking distance, cabs in the evening are pretty easy to find and it is only 20-30 blocks away. You should be able to do VERY well with a $2000/mo budget - you can easily find waterfront condos and even some waterfront homes in this range. I would look at the Old Northeast/Coffee Pot/Snell Isle neighborhoods or even a downtown St Pete highrise. You will find yourself frequently in the Grand Central neighborhood of St Pete (2000-3000 block of Central), but it definitely qualifies as "up-and-coming".Įat, Shop and Play in Grand Central District!
